An alternative simpler feedback form for players on the TRICT programme. Please only use this form if you have been told it's ok by Nick, or if you usually use the normal form, but had an uneventful match.
TRICT is still being tried and tested amongst a varied group of players from tournament to national level, and is not live or available to the public yet. When launched, there will be an application process for the programme that will appear on this page, and a cost to enrol.
TRICT is ultimately designed to empower players with next level mental/emotional tools and skills, that will allow them to become immune to the negative effects of all the common mental/emotional issues that they invariably have to encounter and manage during competitive tennis matches.
Once overcome, players will be able to tap into their pure love of the game. They will feel happy and relaxed on court, and in turn be able to produce better tennis more consistently. They will also find it easier to engage with, and maximise, the learning opportunities that every tennis match offers, allowing them to improve their skills at a faster rate.
TRICT is still in the developmental stage, but has shown great promise since the pilot scheme launched.
General competition issues include:
Often playing at a level below your best
Playing too safe
Lack of confidence in your tennis skills/ability to win
Strong feelings of nerves and tension that are uncomfortable and affect playing level
Feelings of anger or frustration
Lack of enjoyment
Difficulty maintaining concentration
Difficulty giving your very best effort
Resorting to unsportsmanlike behaviour when things aren't going well
An average or below average tie-break record
Specific match scenarios include:
Having a lead and worrying about losing it
Losing a lead and feeling stress and pressure as a result
Going behind and losing all belief to come back
Worrying about losing to someone you should beat
Having no belief in your ability to beat someone who should beat you
Unlike most mental/emotional coaching that is currently on offer or being delivered (and let's be honest, there isn't a whole load!), TRICT tackles these issues in a very human way, by understanding what is actually happening in your brain and your body and why, and then giving players specific tools to address their own individual issues.
TRICT doesn't just encourage you to be strong mentally and to enjoy your matches, it gives you the skills to be able to do it.
Players are expected to be on the programme for a period of 4-8 months*, by which time they will have a personalised blueprint for how to manage and overcome all issues that negatively affect their play in competitive matches.
*This is dependant on having regular opportunity to compete in live tournaments/matches.
*SIGN UP NOT YET AVAILABLE - FEEL FREE TO EXPRESS INTEREST IN THE PROGRAM BY CONTACTING NICK*
Step 1: Sign up to TRICT, providing an overview of the reasons why you're signing up, including the issues you would like to overcome.
Step 2: Use the online feedback form to provide detailed reviews of your matches at your next tournament. This will complete the initial phase that will allow Mental Guru Nick to get a clear picture of your unique circumstances.
Step 3: Based on this initial phase, Nick will slowly introduce the most applicable tools and knowledge to help you overcome negative issues. This will be done, either face-to-face, or via video call. You will then go to your next tournament ready to try and put things into practice, once again using the feedback form to report back how it went.
This process will continue the same way, but also supplemented with live tournament visits based on feasibility and individual player need. Some players respond much better to working on this stuff directly at tournaments, others find that it's not so necessary.
Step 4: As understanding improves, and tools are tried and tested by the player, we'll arrive at a personalised blueprint that outlines your specific toolkit for achieving the perfect mindset in competition that allows you to feel relaxed, to enjoy yourself, commit fully to your matches, and improve your chances of success as a result.
TRICT is for anyone who feels they would benefit from it, but there is one category that it would be most beneficial for: Players who are very strong technically, have all the shots, have great footwork and movement, are motivated to do well, but don't get the results their skill level merits, and who feel that the mental/emotional side of the game is what lets them down.
