Summer Tournament 2024 - Winner's Photo!
The Summer Tournament is the highlight of the tennis year! The tournament uses a traditional knock-out draw, with separate draws for less experienced players, depending on entries. Players can enter singles and/or doubles (with the partner of their choice!), and all matches are played on the day, with the finals taking place late afternoon. All winners get trophies, and runner's up get medals. Everyone else also gets a prize!
FA Cup Tennis 2023 - Finalists Photo!
FA Cup Tennis is our second annual knock-out competition, ONLY open to players actively taking lessons at Hawker. The tournament uses an FA Cup style draw, with no seedings, and a new draw made for each new round. This is a singles only competition, with early round matches being played at weekends and after school during the Autumn term. Semi-Finals and Final are then played on Finals Day, which is usually a Sunday afternoon in late November. All winners get trophies, and runner's up get medals.

Welcome!
Paul and I are both looking forward to organising and putting on another Summer Tournament at Hawker! We want the event to be a celebration of all the amazing junior players that we have on the programme, and their great tennis! This is also a great fun family day, so all the family are encouraged to come down, support, and be part of the day! In the meantime, please feel free to contact either one of us for further information.

Our 16th annual Summer Tournament will be held on Sunday 30th June!
All players can play 1 singles event and/or 1 doubles event each.
Draws and Order of Play
Tournament Info
We have an incredible 67 players competing this year, and a whopping 82 matches scheduled on the day!
Matches will start from 8am with Red and Orange, and shortly afterwards for Green. Yellow ball matches will start from roughly 10.30am, the finals will start around 3/4pm, and there will be a prize ceremony for all winners and runners-up once the finals are completed, around 5/5.30pm.
All events (except Red Doubles) will use knock-out draws. All Yellow ball events will be one short set to 4 (normal deuce and normal Tie-Break at 4-4). Singles Finals will be one full set to 6, with normal Tie-Break at 6-6. Red events and Orange events will be one Tie-Break to 10 points. Green events will be one set of Fast4.
All Tie-breaks must be won by 2 clear points!
Seedings are based on LTA rankings for Yellow ball events
Catering - Picnics Welcome!
Hawker kitchens won't be open, but there will be basic drinks and snacks available inside, including sausage rolls, until 6pm. The weather will hopefully be great, so do feel free to bring your own food and drink to enjoy alongside the tennis!
Fair Play
In the interest of fairness to all players, there must be no communication between players and parents/supporters, once players are on the court. Crowd support such as clapping and cheering are absolutely fine and very much encouraged!
Prizes + Prize Ceremony
ALL competitors will receive a prize on the day, just for taking part! If your child gets knocked out of all their events before the final, they should ask Nick or Paul for their prize from the prize box!
Event winners will receive trophies and runners-up will receive medals. Winners and runners-up are expected to be present for the prize ceremony at the end of the day.
We also traditionally take a group photo of all our winners with their trophies to share online. If you have any objections to this, please abstain from the photo when it takes place after the prize ceremony.
Pockets!
Finally, for those less experienced match players, do please wear clothing that supports being able to have any extra ball for 2nd serves when the first serve is missed. It keeps the game flowing, and also helps the server to not have to be interrupted by finding another ball after missing their first serve! Thanks
