The race follows the same idea as the ATP race that allows the Top 8 players to qualify for the ATP Tour Finals at the end of the year by collecting points throughout the year. In our case, up to the Top 5 at the end of the year will qualify for some great prizes!
You score 5 points for winning a match, and 2 points for losing a match.
Bonus Points: You score 3 bonus points for winning both singles matches in one matchplay, and 2 bonus points for winning a match 4-0.
Longer format matches: For 2 set matches, each sets counts as an individual match for points purposes. The 3 bonus points are awarded if you win both sets. The 2 bonus points are awarded for 6-0 and 6-1 sets, and 4-0 sets.
Beating a Top 5 player (from March onwards): You score 5 points for beating 1st place, 4 points beating 2nd place, and so on, down to 1 point for beating 5th place. You ONLY score these points if you were ranked lower in the table on the day of the match.
2024 PRIZES: (2025 Prizes will be announced later this year)
Trophies: Awarded to the Top 3 on the 16U leaderboard, and 1st place on the 13U and 11U leaderboards if they have 100+ points.
Vouchers: 16U Leaderboard - £40 for 1st place, £20 for 2nd place, and £10 for 3rd place, and £20 for 1st place on both the U13 and U11 leaderboards if they have 100+ points.
There will be a new Player of the month award given to one player at the end of each calendar month, who has stood out in one way or another. It might be they scored a big upset win, or they progressed strongly with a personal goal, or they had a great month of results. The prize will vary month by month, and will be announced here. The only requirement is that players need to have completed at least 2 Matchplay's in the month to be eligible.
Player of the month winners:
January: Ted Allen (picture) for winning 6 out of 9 matches, and having a great attitude throughout, especially when he had to play some much older stronger players. Well done Ted!
Prize: Chunky medal and tube of new tennis balls
February: ?
Prize: ?
There will be a separate leaderboard with the same level of prizes for less experienced players. To be clear, player's in any of Nick's Team Hawker squads won't be eligible for this leaderboard. All other players who take lessons at Hawker (including those in Paul's squads) will be eligible for this leaderboard, as well as their regular age group leaderboard!
